Making the Invisible Risk Visible: Our new Campaign for Safe Air in Healthcare
Indoor air quality (IAQ) is a critical but an often overlooked factor in healthcare settings. Poor ventilation increases the risk of airborne infections, putting both patients and healthcare workers at risk. In response, Supporting Healthcare Heroes UK (SHH-UK) has launched the #SafeAir4All campaign to raise awareness and push for policy changes that will prioritise safe air in hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities.
As part of the campaign, SHH-UK is encouraging the public to do three things:
Step 1:
Document CO2 levels in healthcare settings by taking photos of the readings on portable CO2 monitors and share their findings on social media using the hashtag #SafeAir4All. Guidance for taking photographs can be found here.
Step 2:
Tell us your infection prevention and control experiences in healthcare settings. Experiences of inadequate infection prevention measures can be shared here.
Step 3:
Sign the petition advocating for stricter air quality and PPE standards. (Deadline 10th May.)
Alongside public engagement, SHH-UK will lobby policymakers and media outlets to drive meaningful change.
Join the movement by posting your CO2 readings on the padlet board or on social media using the hashtag #SafeAir4All, telling us your stories, signing the petition, and spreading the word. Together, we can ensure that safe air becomes a standard, not a privilege.
