Welcome to our May 2025 Newsletter

In this newsletter we provide information on some of the charity's activities as well as ways in which you can help shape our future direction and contribute to our fundraising activities.

Can you help shape SHH-UK's future direction?

Following our listening sessions, we have decided to host additional one to ones to hear more about how SHH-UK might better support you. These will be led by our Service User Engagement Leads Erin Whittingham and Ashley Lee.

We anticipate the one to ones being about 45 minutes to an hour, and we are happy to pick a time that suits you including weekends. If you'd like to speak to us, please email ashley.lee@shh-uk.org to arrange a convenient time for a chat.

If you don't feel up to meeting with Erin or Ashley why not let us know what you think SHH-UK should be focusing on via this Padlet board.

Our #Safe Air4All Campaign: Update

We launched our #SafeAir4All campaign in March 2025 and we're making progress. We're very excited that our two position statements have now been released. The position statements set out our recommendations for change and provide evidence to support the changes we are calling for.
We're grateful to everyone who signed the petition calling for new air quality and PPE standards in healthcare settings. We didn't make the 10000 signatures needed for the Government to respond. However, we're currently talking to our partner organisations and coming up with new strategies to get the word out there. Watch this space!

Remember you can find out about our #SafeAir4All campaign by clicking here.
Why not join in with our #SafeAir4All campaign? We need people to help with the two steps below.

Step 1:

Document CO2 levels in healthcare settings by taking photos of the readings on portable CO2 monitors and sharing your findings on social media using the hashtag #SafeAir4All and/or upload them to our Padlet board. Guidance for taking photographs can be found here.

Step 2:

Tell us your infection prevention and control experiences in healthcare settings. Experiences of inadequate infection prevention measures can be shared here.
He made it! As many of you will be aware our Honorary Secretary, Gerry Bolger, walked the Camino de Santiago last month. We'd like to thank everyone who sponsored him. He raised £3114 plus gift aid. This will really help us move forward our work supporting healthcare workers with Long Covid across the UK.
