This OECD report shows that Long Covid continues to place a significant burden on individuals, health systems and economies. While prevalence has declined since the pandemic peak, millions remain affected, with ongoing healthcare needs and reduced ability to work.
The report highlights major economic costs – largely driven by lost productivity – and identifies gaps in diagnosis, care pathways and national strategies. It calls for coordinated, cross-sector responses, improved clinical support, and stronger policies to reduce long-term impacts and support recovery.

Thomas Regan says:
NHS England (and others) have no answer on how to implement and oversee a long-term plan for Long Covid. Many GP and healthcare professionals still do not recognise the health and wellness implications. Some refuse to believe it exists. We have studies galore, but they all essentially say the same thing. We need hope and reassurance. We need information as to what research is being done. We need answers. We need our politicians and senior health officials to put the well-being of its citizens first and foremost.
