Covid is Airborne: You’re breathing it in
A powerful short video explaining how COVID spreads through the air like smoke, highlighting why ventilation, clean air and respiratory protection matter.
Amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare workers (HCWs) in the UK are living with the effects of Long Covid. Supporting Healthcare Heroes UK (SHH-UK) is a charity set up to stand shoulder to shoulder with these frontline champions.
In a series of blogs over the past 11 days, we’ve delved into SHH-UK’s comprehensive support framework for HCWs grappling with Long Covid. We’ve also shared the stories of five HCWs living with Long Covid.
Our mission is clear (Figure 1): to offer holistic assistance encompassing financial aid, advocacy, research dissemination, and promotion of better indoor air quality. We will provide grants to ease financial burdens, offer guidance on benefit navigation, and support HCWs contemplating ill health retirement. Moreover, we will foster connections and amplify voices to combat isolation.

SHH-UK champions Long Covid awareness and policy reforms through partnerships with policymakers, unions, and professional bodies.
Volunteers are pivotal, contributing diverse skills to aid HCWs, from facilitating support groups to fundraising endeavours. If you can lend your expertise in any of the areas outlined above, even for a few hours, please reach out to us via our web-based form.
As a charitable entity, SHH-UK relies on donations and volunteers. Individuals can contribute financially, engage on social media, or offer their skills to empower healthcare heroes living with Long Covid.
Supporting Healthcare Heroes UK exemplifies the power of community-driven initiatives in tackling the complexities of Long Covid. Through our multifaceted approach, we remain steadfast in supporting and empowering frontline healthcare workers. Join us in our mission to stand shoulder to shoulder with UK healthcare heroes.
