This resource isn’t about safe air in healthcare instead it focuses on schools but we feel it is worth sharing as it provides useful information.

The Joint Union Ventilation Guidance (August 2025) provides practical, evidence-based advice for improving indoor air quality in schools and colleges.

The advice was developed by the major education unions, it outlines why ventilation matters for learning, health, and attendance – and sets out a five-step plan for union reps and safety officers to assess, monitor, and improve ventilation.

The guide explains how to identify poorly ventilated areas, use CO₂ monitoring effectively, and implement both simple fixes (like unblocking air vents or opening windows) and engineering controls (mechanical ventilation and HEPA filtration). It highlights legal duties under UK Health and Safety law and calls for government investment to ensure safe air for pupils and staff.
