In recent updates, we’ve detailed our mission to support UK healthcare workers (HCWs) living with Long Covid by providing financial aid, advocacy, research dissemination, and promoting indoor air quality. We offer grants, guidance on benefits and debt, and resources for those considering ill health retirement. Additionally, we reduce isolation through support groups and amplify voices to advocate for more support. We have also highlighted our advocacy efforts and the crucial role of volunteers. To support our mission, individuals can donate, volunteer, engage on social media, or contribute skills, empowering healthcare heroes facing Long Covid challenges in the UK. Supporting Healthcare Workers with Long Covid
Living with Long Covid can be isolating, which is why we’ve established various activities to address this issue. To expand our efforts, we need volunteers who can:
– Assist with the administration and facilitation of support groups such as this one
– Contribute to and/or moderate discussions on our forums.
Contributing to Educational Initiatives
At SHH-UK, we aim to equip healthcare workers dealing with Long Covid with essential information and best practices. Currently, we’re developing web-based educational resources covering the following topics:
– Understanding Long Covid and Living with It
– Benefits
– Ill Health Retirement
– Returning to Work
– Indoor Air Quality and Infection Prevention and Control
Our educational initiatives also aim to raise awareness of Long Covid among managers, other healthcare workers and the general public.
In the future, we plan to host webinars and “live chats” to further educate and engage our community. If you’re interested in leading, speaking at, or assisting with the administration of these events, please let us know. Additionally, we’re exploring the possibility of producing educational podcasts and would appreciate help with recording and editing.
Fundraising Support
We rely on fundraising efforts to sustain our mission. Whether you can provide administrative support or share your expertise in fundraising or social media marketing, your contribution is invaluable.
If you can lend your expertise, even for a few hours, please reach out to us via our web-based form.
Could you organise a local fundraiser for us? Anything from a tombola or car boot sale, or a sponsored event of some kind, could help us raise enough funds to deliver on our mission.
Support with our social media accounts
We have several social media accounts and need help managing them. Opportunities include:
– Posting on our social media accounts for us.
– Creating and sharing content on social media platforms.
– Designing graphics and infographics.
– Producing and editing podcasts and videos for use on social media.
If you can lend your expertise in any of the areas outlined above, even for a few hours, please reach out to us via our web-based form.
A Note for Those Living with Long Covid
We understand that individuals living with Long Covid may not have the energy or capacity to volunteer in traditional roles. If this applies to you, consider exploring our advocate role, where you can still make a meaningful impact.
Thank you to all our current volunteers for their dedication and support.
If you’re interested in any of the roles mentioned above or have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us via our web-based form. Your support is greatly appreciated.
