Healthcare workers continue to experience some of the highest rates of Long Covid in the UK, with many facing ongoing ill health, financial hardship, difficulties accessing appropriate healthcare, and significant barriers to remaining in or returning to work.
To help us effectively lobby for the support healthcare workers with Long Covid need, Supporting Healthcare Heroes UK (SHH-UK) is developing a position statement outlining these needs.
The position statement will explore the support needed in the following areas to protect and retain the healthcare workforce:
- practical
- financial
- occupational health support
- access to healthcare
The position statement will also emphasise the importance of preventing further Covid-19 infections among healthcare workers through evidence-based infection prevention measures, including improvements to indoor air quality and access to appropriate respiratory protection.
